New Application Process for SRD R370 Grant Launched
New Streamlined Application Process
SASSA has introduced a completely redesigned application process for the SRD R370 grant (soon to be R400). The new system includes online verification and faster processing times for applicants.
The updated application process is part of SASSA's ongoing efforts to improve service delivery and reduce the administrative burden on applicants. The agency has invested in new technology and streamlined procedures to make the process more efficient.
Key Features of the New System
The new application process includes several improvements:
- Real-time identity verification using Home Affairs database integration
- Automated income verification through SARS and banking interfaces
- Mobile-friendly application portal with reduced data usage
- SMS and WhatsApp status notifications at each stage of the process
- Reduced processing time from 10 working days to 3-5 working days
- New appeal system with faster resolution timeframes
How to Apply
Applicants can access the new system through multiple channels:

All existing applicants will need to re-register on the new system, but their historical data will be transferred automatically. The re-registration process has been simplified and should take less than 5 minutes to complete.
Required Documentation
The new system requires minimal documentation from applicants:
- South African ID number (no physical copy required as verification is done electronically)
